Dancing in the Street

I’ve been dancing since I was 4 years old – in classes, on stage, in discos, in ballrooms and in my kitchen. I don’t recall ever dancing in the street and this is something I’d like to do (given the right setting and the opportune moment) – like these dancers I photographed in Dijon a few years ago. They were thoroughly enjoying themselves.

To dance is to become alive and be part of the music, not separate from it. To dance is to move, express, respond and allow the energy to course through me and outwards into the world.

The formal stuff, like ballet, was hard work but it gives shape and structure to the dance, adds technique and steps and a multitiude of possibilities for creative free, expressive dance.

To dance is to connect the inner me with the outer you, and to become part of the whole.

At the still point…there the dance is….and there is only the dance
