Rocks like whipped cream, folded stiffened silk, gathered flowing fabric, a soft sand sculpture, an edible dessert concotion topped with chocolate sauce – Zabriskie Point is an amazing place.
Zabriskie Point is in the Death Valley area in California – a hot, arid, vast and impressively desolate but beautiful place. Its flat open valley is surrounded by scenic mountains and rock formations.
Zabriskie Point is also the name of a film, the context in which I’d always known this name. I’ve not seen the film and I’d not known it was a real place until I went there and marvelled at the neatly gathered up folds of rock which changed and threw interesting shadows in the strong sunlight.
